For Immediate Release
Austin, TXPeriscope Holdings, Inc. (Periscope) is pleased to announce that its purchasing software BuySpeed will be used by the City of Chattanooga, TN, the City of McAllen, TX, and Ventura County, CA. These contracts extend Periscope's broad geographic reach as a leading supplier of procurement solutions for state and local governments.
The three local governments purchased BuySpeed to automate their procurement and inventory functions and save taxpayers thousands of dollars in processing.
"We anticipate BuySpeed making a noticeable impact on the way we do purchasing," said Bruce Boncutter, Assistant Purchasing Agent for the City of Chattanooga. Gene Settles, the City of Chattanooga's Purchasing Agent, added, "Our staff and customers are excited about the BuySpeed software capabilities and its user-friendly operations. Chattanooga is proud to have made a sound investment that will yield a rapid return for our taxpayers. We're looking forward to our new relationship with Periscope."
The City of Chattanooga also purchased Directors Chair, the Internet agency and vendor modules of BuySpeed. The agency module allows users to create requisitions, order from contracts, and create informal bids online. The vendor module allows vendors to register online, receive customized notices of bid opportunities via e-mail, and respond online to informal bids.
The City of McAllen views BuySpeed as the ideal upgrade solution. "We'd been struggling to find a way to advance our purchasing system and save tax dollars," said Al Garcia, Director of Purchasing for the City of McAllen. "Saving taxpayers dollars through improved processes was big for us, and that they are a Texas company is a plus."
Ventura County is happy with their choice and believes county departments will also approve. "At last, a product that will save money and optimize our inventory management operation," said Chris Hackleman, Operations Manager. The BuySpeed system will also benefit Ventura County's online requestors through use of BuySpeed Department Access: "We've been using a DOS-based inventory system, so the new Windows platform is something our departments will truly appreciate," noted Hackleman.
Periscope's Chairman and CEO Jack Mildren believes online vendor management and software-enabled procurement are changing government purchasing for the better. "These agencies should be commended by the taxpayers for the money saved by implementing these products," said Mildren, the former Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor. "We're delighted to be working with each of them."
