Wildflower resources: get wildflower books, wild flower seeds and information for improving the environment by partnering with wildflowers

11th Annual Darrington Wildflower Festival Teams with Rodeo and the Outdoors


Included in this year's educational speakers are the Gayle Eversol, PhD, speaking on the "Medicinal Uses of Wildflowers" at the Darrington Library.

Selected Arts and Crafts Booths, with well-known favorites, plus some new featured specialities, such as the Washington Gem and Mineral Displays - will be found around the Darrington Fire Hall.

Native Plant and Environmental Displays
Native Plant Walk, plus Forest Ecology Walks presented by Richard Tinsley and the WA Native Plant Society.

Fly Tying Demonstration both days at the Sauk River Trading Post.

The Quilt Show - a crowd favorite!

Children's Activities and Library Book Sale – The Library which will be open Sat. and Sun. from 10 AM to 4 PM. (Watch for Smokey Bear!)

Master Gardeners will be at the Children's Garden
Musical Entertainment and Food Booths.

The festival is expanding to include other Natural Resources. New for 2002:

Northwest Native Basket Weavers – Will be teaching basket making with native plant materials.

Ed Lehman/Everett Rock and Gem Club – Educational Display of 16 ft of glass cases filled with local Washington Gems and Minerals. Will also demonstrate panning for Garnets.

Washington Prospectors – will demonstrate Gold Panning at the Sauk Trading Post.

Darrington Airport Fly In – Continental Breakfast from 8 AM to 1 PM, Sat.only.

We are pleased to announce this year's festival poster photography was chosen from the estate of the late Edith Bedal, Sauk-Suiattle Tribe member, life-long Darrington resident, and well-known photographer and wilderness guide.

Western-themed raffle items are being donated by friends as far away as Texas, such as two framed Tim Cox posters, as well as special collector's books from Oso Publishing and many other wonderful items.

Join us for a June weekend in the most "down home" town this side of the Cascades. We love our visitors!
